Design notes

Make the next step clear

A clear interface helps someone understand where they are, what they can do, and what happened after an action. Small details often matter more than decoration.

Use words that explain the action

A link called “Read the note” has an understandable purpose. A button should describe the action it performs. When an action takes time, a short status message helps the person know that it is still working.

Give content room

Comfortable line lengths and enough space between sections make a page easier to scan. Related information should look related. Headings should describe the section rather than merely filling a visual slot.

Include more ways to navigate

Keyboard focus needs to be visible. Text should have sufficient contrast. Navigation should remain usable on a narrow screen, and the essential content should not depend on animation.

The best improvements are often ordinary ones: fewer surprises, more useful labels, and a layout that makes the next step easy to find.
